新たに、エボラ・キバレによる、 8名の感染を確認 いずれも今回のアウトブレイク 「震源地」であるキバレ地区出身者。 “8 new Ebola cases confirmed!” Health officials reveal in Uganda Health officials in Uganda’s Kagandi Hospital have so far confirmed 8 new emerging cases of Ebola. Statistics released by Health officials on Friday indicate that the number of people currently “actively being followed up” has increased from 232 to 253 in the recent 24 hours. Speaking on the matter, the chairman of the Ebola National Task Force, Mr. Anthony Mbonye said, “Of the 46 samples collected since the outbreak, by August 2, eight of them were confirmed positive and all are from Kibaale.”
>>58の原文 3 August 2012 -The Ministry of Health in Uganda has reported a cumulative number of 53 suspected cases of Ebola haemorrhagic fever including 16 deaths. Of these, five cases have been laboratory confirmed by the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe (this includes three fatal cases and two cases currently being treated in the isolation facility). Currently 32 cases are admitted to an isolation facility in Kagadi hospital, Kibaale district, and a total of 312 contacts were identified, of whom 253 are being closely followed-up. So far all samples from other districts have tested negative for Ebola, indicating that there has been no expansion of the outbreak beyond Kibaale District. However a clinical officer who attended to a case in Kibaale district was transferred to Mulago Hospital in Kampala for treatment but later died. Among the contacts being monitored daily are the seven health workers who attended to the fatal case transferred to Mulago Hospital, none of them has so far developed symptoms of the disease
A total of 5 suspected cases of Ebola haemorrhagic fever have been detected in Isiro, chief town of the district of Haut Uele, Orientale Province (north eastern Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC)], said Jean-Marc Madindi, provincial medical inspector of the Eastern Province, on Sun 12 Aug 2012. "Another case where death ensued, was notified in Dungu, one of 6 areas that make up the district of Haut Uele. We are waiting for test results to diagnose the virus," said Mr Madindi, adding that all cases are closely monitored in Dungu and Isiro, without giving further details.
An outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever (VHF) has emerged since last July [2012], 200 km [124 miles] from Kampala in Uganda, killing 14 people on 20 confirmed cases. Given the proximity between the Eastern Province and the eastern part of Uganda, and the intense traffic between the 2 countries, humanitarian actors [doctors?] in DRC have taken preventive measures to deal with this epidemic.
Haemorrhagic fever, against which there is no treatment or vaccine, kills between 50 and 90 per cent of sufferers. It is also highly contagious by direct contact with blood, bodily fluids, or when handling contaminated corpses carelessly. In the DRC, Ebola haemorrhagic fever occurred previously in Equateur province in 1976-1977 (north west), in Bandundu province (south west) in 1995, in the Eastern Province in 1999 and 2000, and in Kasai Occidental (center) in 2007 and 2008.
-- communicated by: ProMED-mail <promed@promedmail.org> [This Orientale province of the Democratic Republic of Congo is adjacent to the region of Uganda currently experiencing an outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever. It is tempting to infer that the 2 outbreaks are related. The Ugandan outbreak has been caused by Sudan ebolavirus. Confirmation and identification of the virus responsible for the DRC outbreak are awaited.
Another Ebola Patient Dead, Only One Remains In Isolation Facility -------------------------------------------------------- Another person has succumbed to Ebola virus disease after a long battle with the deadly fever at the isolation facility at Kagadi government hospital in Kibaale district. This brings the total number of people who have died of the deadly disease to 17. The deceased's identity has however been withheld by the Health Ministry. The Ministry's public relations officer Rukia Nakamatte says since [the patient's admission] to the isolation camp her condition had never improved and her chances of survival were minimal. Nakamatte adds that the deceased was HIV-positive and by the time she contracted Ebola virus disease she had just had an abortion thus making her immune system very weak. She says now only one Ebola virus disease patient remains admitted at the isolation facility.
Nakamatte adds that 3 suspected Ebola virus disease cases are currently undergoing monitoring and their samples have already been taken to the Uganda Virus Research Institute for tests. -- Communicated by: ProMED-mail <promed@promedmail.org> [The death toll in the Kibaale outbreak of Ebola Sudan virus infection has risen to 17, with only one other case remaining in the isolation facility and receiving treatment. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection may have been a contributory factor in the death of the 17th case. It will be relevant to establish the HIV-status of the other fatal cases in this outbreak. Three additional cases remain under surveillance. - Mod.CP.
